We have stayed with version Nodewords 6.x-1.12-beta3 as it was the one we got working overall. We have been seeing that we should update to beta 9 which I think we tried to we ignored via update settings. We now see recommended version is back to 6x-1.11 can someone please gives some input on what is working and what is not as we don't want to be running a non recommended version if not necessary but we don't want an inoperable module either.
This module is noted in so many Drupal books and Podcasts and it seems odd that it is stuck with so many issues.

I was thinking that too. Completely bewilders me. It's been a disaster module at times.

Anyway, if what you have is working for you, do you really need to change it? Is it possible for you to set up a duplicate of your site on a local test server and test the recommended version out?

We are recommending people use the current dev (6.x-1.x-dev) as we *know* that code mostly works. When upgrading to 6.x-1.x-dev, make sure to follow the proper module update procedure: delete the old files first before copying in the new module files, and always backup your database prior to updating. The upgrade path from 6.x-1.11 to 6.x-1.x-dev isn't exactly the most well tested, so be prepared to roll back to 6.x-1.11 if it goes wrong.

We're trying our best to clean up and fix the code we inherited and get a new official release out to you.

Thanks for the new input. Our production site has been running 6.x-1.12-beta3 for months as it was the only build that we could get to work. ( I started this thread) We now see a new Beta update to 6.x-1.12-rc1 so we are trying to figure out if it is same to go with this build or to leave things alone for the moment. We want to keep up but also don't want a mess again. Thanks for the hard work and input.

Is the new alpha module good enough to use on a production site?

I notice the recommended version of the module is 2 years old and may be buggy itself. Are there any show stopping reason why I shouldn't use the alpha release???

I would strongly recommend sticking to the 6.x-1.x-dev release for now - v6.x-1.11 is rather broken, we'll have a v6.x-1.x stable release very soon and we're still not sure what we're going to do with the v6.x-2.x codebase yet.
