You have to also enable the DrupalChat block.

tubby commentedthank you.
i enabled. cleared cache and all that. it says "chat loading." that never changes.
i do cache my javascript. does that matter?
darklrd commentedHi tubby,
No it doesn't matter. Which version of jQuery Update module are you using? Also which web browser are you using for this?

^^it looks like that
i'm using the alpha version of jquery recommended on the mod page but i initially had the v1.1 installed. when that was installed, the gray bar appeared properly but it kept saying "chat loading."
with the correct version of jquery, the styling has gone away but it still says "chat loading."
i realized as i started typing that i have a shared users folder across subdomains. could this be causing the issue?
browser FF 3.6.6

websule-old commentedsame here... I have installed drupalchat as per instructions, with jquery.. & integration with user relations. Enabled the block. have few users for testing..with proper permissions.. added & confirmed as friends..
We all get the same thing.. Chat loading ... all the times.. please help!
We are testing it to include in our soon to be released Social Networking CMS Solution based on drupal. We would like to sponsor the development of this module further for drupal7.
hoping to hear back soon.

darklrd commentedHi tubby and drupalpoint,
Check FF's javascript error console once. Is it reporting some error? Are your test sites accessible via internet?
@tubby - What do you mean by 'shared users folder across subdomains'? Do you mean that you are using the same installation of Drupal across different subdomains?
tubby commentedyes, i have one installation of drupal that i use on several domains. the domains share a number of database tables including the users tables.
i got the following error...
Error: $("#drupalchat_chat_window_users_region > div").live is not a function
Source File: http://mysite.com/sites/subdomain.mysite.com/files/js/js_97f1553db20b6c0...

Performance -- admin/settings/performance -- Optimize JavaScript files: Enabled. I disabled it. Cleared my cache. Still nothing.

tubby commentedi also wanted to add that on one of my subs, when i enabled drupalchat, every link would open in a lightbox. obviously there was some conflict and i'm not sure which mod was causing it but it should be easy enough to figure out.
on the other sub, it appears where it should, the only problem is it continuously says "chat loading" and doesn't load users list.

darklrd commentedHi tubby,
This error means that you are using wrong version of jQuery Update module. See this #852686: drupalchat shows up javascript error.
tubby commentedyeah, i tried the other version, the correct version and i got no errors. so i tried the old version, which actually visually displays correctly, to see if that would help.
oh well, i guess it just doesn't work for me.
thanks

darklrd commentedHi tubby,
We will debug this through. Please confirm this when you had enabled the correct version, it didn't show any error but still you got that 'Chat(loading)' message and nothing worked right? If yes then I think same user base for multiple sub-domains could be an issue but it can be resolved.

darklrd commentedHi drupalpoint,
Sponsorship will be really appreciated and will help this module.
Are you using the correct version of jquery_update module? It should be 6.x-2.0-alpha. Do you get any error in FF's Javascript console?
tubby commentedsorry, yes. either version of jquery resulted in the "chat loading" message.
the difference between the two was that visually, the older version of jquery was visually formatted correctly...the styles look like they're supposed to...gray background, etc...
for the new version, it was as if the styles didn't load. the background was transparent but the "chat loading" message still appeared. i attached a screenshot from the updated version of drupalchat with the 2.0 alpha version of jquery update.
