moshe weitzman commentedplease deactivate all non essential modules until you fid the culprit. post here again if you think this is truly a bug in a core module.

ijulie commentedI deactivated all modules that aren't bundled with basic 4.4.1, and I'm still getting the error. I'm using theme marvin_2k -- perhaps the problem might lie there?

gfox@muddylaces.ca commentedI was also getting the error that was reported. I found (at least for my installation) that the culprit is the jabber module. When I disable that, this error goes away.
I hope this helps.

I also found this...but I still get a field labeled simply "error" between "Personal information" and "Theme settings." Any info on this?

(not verified) commentedLooks like jabber was deprecated. I simply deleted it, and my problems went away. I think you should check to see if you have any deprecated modules (or out of date modules) left in your module directory.

(not verified) commentedThe problem did go away when I deleted jabber.module. Mystery solved.
