All the users (even anonymous) see the chat topics on the first page when the "publish on the front page" is set, even they do not have any permissions see the chats.

ok, i've committed a fix for this by implementing hook_db_rewrite_sql.

feels a bit blunt-object-ish, but seems to work for the front page.

can you see if this fixes your issue (you'll need to test dev)?

actually, setting to fixed, as this is way better than the existing code. released as 6.x-2-9.
