Problem/Motivation
The home page's "How Our Students Are Thriving" section is hand-placed static content, so a fresh install shows the same headline three times in the left column and twice more on the right:
03 SEP Open Day. Meet faculty, tour campus 10 SEP University Launches New Artificial Intelligence Research Center 08 SEP University Launches New Artificial Intelligence Research Center 07 SEP University Launches New Artificial Intelligence Research Center University Launches New Artificial Intelligence Research Center University Launches New Artificial Intelligence Research Center
Counted on a clean install of the current 1.0.x: ten occurrences of that one title and zero Views blocks on the page. None of it is real content — the titles and dates are literal props on fifteen hand-placed components, so they never change, never reflect what the site actually publishes, and go stale the moment an editor adds an event or a news post.
The section is also the one place on the home page that should obviously be data-driven: it exists to show what is coming up and what was just published.
Steps to reproduce
- Install the Educare site template.
- Open the home page and scroll to "How Our Students Are Thriving".
- The same event title repeats three times on the left and twice on the right, regardless of the events and news the site contains.
Proposed resolution
Replace the fifteen static components with two Views blocks, and add the two displays they render:
views.view.eventsgainsdisplay.latest— three upcoming events, no pager, single column, rendering the dated card view mode already bound tofield_when.views.view.newsgainsdisplay.featured— two latest news posts infeatured_card_medium.- The Home page's component tree drops fifteen hand-placed components and gains the two blocks (151 → 138 components).
Both displays follow the naming the news view already uses (all, latest, related) rather than a generic block_1, and they are added through the same views.view.* config actions the recipe already applies.
Three items on the left against two on the right matches the design and leaves the two columns the same height.
