I upgraded to alpha6 and the author names no longer appear on the citation. I spun up a simplytest.me site to confirm that it wasn't my theme or custom code which was the problem.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Spin up a test site at http://simplytest.me and include the bibcite module
  2. Set the 'reference page view mode' to 'citation' on the following page: /admin/config/bibcite/settings/reference/settings
  3. May need cache clear for the view mode to update
  4. Add a new reference of type 'Journal Article' via /bibcite/reference/add/journal_article. Include a couple of authors.
  5. On the front end of the reference page, the authors are not included on the citation.

Extra info:

  • The problem exists across all Processor Styles
  • An additional problem on the APA 6th edition style - it shows the title twice.

Many thanks for your issue. It was already fixed within #2960552: Initials with CLS styles but your description is more correct. Please try latest dev. It's obviously a major issue so if there is nothing new will appear, we'll release alpha7 on Monday with this single fix.
