theming collapsed comment lists

If I am correct, it is impossible to theme the collapsed comment lists, you can only use the comment function for expanded comments. (This not only limits the layout possibilities but can also pose problems with foreground vs background colors)
Suggestion: put the list inside a box (or use a new theme function)
