Media module is very popular today but there is no way to limit upload file size/extensions for media_generic file upload widget. Attached patch adds it.

thank you for the patch, it has been committed on commit d5b4aa5 and will be included on next module release.
To add new widgets support is also possible to use the hook
hook_filefield_role_limit_supported_widgets_alter
