It is confusing for the user whether there is a distinction between a ladder and a curriculum.
Change the word "curriculum" to "ladder" in places and navigation.
Redirect http://drupalladder.org/curriculums -> http://drupalladder.org/ladders

bryanhirsch commentedbhosmer, thanks for your help capturing ideas from today's BoF in the issue queue.
Can someone please reformat this issue according to the issue template here?
If you don't have enough information to propose a resolution or write up remaining tasks, please write a "remaining task" suggesting a next step that will move the issue closer to having a known resolution and/or clear follow-up tasks.

BrockBoland commentedAgreed: the ladder v. curriculum distinction is unnecessarily confusing. The Curriculums list now included clearer "Go to Ladder" and "Go to Node" links, but until one clicks through, it's not clear what that means (and even after one does, it may not be).
I propose dropping the "Curriculum" label from the interface altogether. The "Curriculums" tab could be renamed to "Other Ladders" (to differentiate from the main Drupal Ladder tab). The "create new" link in the bottom left could similarly be updated. There's really no need for a site user to ever see the Curriculum node like this one: http://drupalladder.org/curriculum/b9ba6803-b4f0-9e34-89f5-87462c8a24e9%20

heather commentedCan I ++ this?
I think curriculum is also a confusing word since it is used differently in EU and US.

add1sun commentedI'm with! I agree we should stick with ladders.

add1sun commentedReformat for issue summary.

updated the top level description.
Comment #7
BrockBoland commentedI realize that I wasn't clear about one thing in #3: I would also like to drop the "Go to Node" link from that list, because it really just confuses things further.
Comment #8
BrockBoland commented#1774510: Allow ladder node editing from the ladder view will make it easier to get rid of the "Go to Node" link, since the best use for that link right now is site admins/ladder owners who want to edit the lessons included in that ladder.

BrockBoland commentedI'm going to make this change this week, so last chance:
Any objections to this change?
Comment #10
heather commentedI posted before, I know. But I can't see why there'd be an objection.
Many people don't know what a curriculum is, and those that do will be confused by the usage here. The debate of which is outside the scope of this discussion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curriculum
Ladders is a useful and friendly visual metaphor, and relates to the notion of the step-by-step progress we want to focus on... and the notion of extending a ladder to help someone else. It is also now becoming a standard within the site so that adding a second term becomes confusing.
IMHO!

BrockBoland commentedMade changes to the ladder and lessons projects for this:
http://drupalcode.org/project/ladder.git/commit/446f74f
http://drupalcode.org/project/lessons.git/commit/4e4292d
There may be more items that need to be fixed. The Ladder content type is called "curriculum," so I couldn't just do a search-and-replace: the machine names remain unchanged. I only updated UI elements.
