Drupal core has theme_menu_link, whcih can be easily used to add special classes etc. to menu items.

Superfish has no such thing, you have to override theme_superfish_build(), which is excessive.

It would be nice even to just wrap the l() call in a theme function for easy override.

#1 works perfectly and needs to be committed ASAP. This is a major hindrance in providing integration support between Menu Views and Superfish.
