Hi!
My name is Igor Lakic and I come from a small European Mediterranean country – Croatia. With web development I've started in 2012. Even since my youth I was into IT, but finding the „right“ specialization was a tough decision. Why „tough“ you wonder? Well, as you might already be aware of, IT is nowadays an enormous industry and one can easily get lost in this vast amount of new knowledge and opportunities can be overwhelming, unless one first perceives a wider picture and only then starts scrutinizing all components and matter in general.
Being a man who believes that Internet is one of the most important inventions of the modern age (right after the invention of alternating current), mainly because a major part of humankind depends on it nowadays, I've decided that web development will be a part of IT industry in which I wish to participate, contribute, and lastly leave my mark.
As for my knowledge in web development, web technologies like Drupal, HTML(5), CSS(3), Sass/LibSass (advanced user), Susy, Twig, Atomic Design, BEM, Pattern Lab, Javascript/jQuery, GSAP (GreenSock Animation Platform), PHP (basics), Docker, Bash (scripting), LAMP, Apache, MariaDB belong to my knowledge portfolio I use on a daily basis. Considering that web development is not just about coding, but also graphical art, I also use graphical tools like Gimp, Inkscape, and Pencil in my work. For both web development and website maintenance I use Git, and personally run everything on a Linux based OS.
I’m a huge sympathizer of open source technologies and its community that is growing steadily by every day and that contributes to the overall technology development on a global scale. Currently I’m also in charge of maintaining 2 packages for Arch Linux distribution: apache22 and php-apache22.
I’ve chosen Drupal as my main web development framework because it is the most versatile and most advanced (in terms of supported features) Content Management Framework (CMF) that is being actively developed and maintained by an open source community of IT experts from all around the world.
Beside web development, I also play guitar for a long time. While I do believe that music art drives the world and refines people, music allows me to express myself, and is also a great source of relaxation.
