Perhaps in stark contrast to the 'quaint' mediaeval market town of Shrewsbury in Shropshire, where I was born and raised, I spent most of my young adult life performing, writing and recording loud, electronic and guitar based music.
As an independent artist responsible for my own promotion, I was keenly aware of how important the internet was to 'getting out there', so I taught myself web design and began creating basic, static HTML sites. (This was the late 90s - still the dark ages of the internet, before any notable social networks or music sharing portals existed.)
I found I had a passion and talent for web design and a few years later, when I moved to London and inbetween music gigs, I took an unpaid internship at a young start-up company called Brightlemon. The agency steadily grew and when Leon (the director) was able, he offered me a paid position as Designer and Front End Developer. It was there, while working with various open source and proprietary Content Management Systems that I first came into contact with Drupal.
That was 2007 and there's been no looking back!
