Drupal Contributions:

I started with Drupal by migrating all of the main public-facing websites for BYU Religious Education from custom PHP or HTML code to Drupal. The biggest Drupal site involved with that migration was rsc.byu.edu, a central location for users to find out about BYU's Religious Studies Center and read any of their publications that had been added to their public archive. I worked extensively to facilitate the conversion of thousands of publications from Microsoft Word or other source documents to Drupal nodes and books, as well as installing Apache Solr search capabilities and other features to enhance the site experience for both users and content editors.

I also worked closely with Christian Sieber (kazanir) and, later, a small team of developers on creating an advanced eCommerce site for Perfectly Posh LLC. This site was special because it provided both a front-end customer shopping experience and a back-end Consultant sales and virtual office experience, and grouped orders into Events or parties, which allowed Consultants to pay against the balance of the entire event rather than a single order. I became the AJAX specialist and tackled many improvements to the Authorize.Net and Card on File modules necessary for our site.

I worked with ThomasARTS on their insideEDGE team, developing innovative and engaging training experiences for employees meant to replace and improve upon the stale, lifeless training that many employees receive. In the middle of creating individual sites for existing clients, I worked to develop an insideEDGE-centric distribution and suite of custom modules to make it possible for our team to spin up sites like the ones we've already created in a fraction of the time it currently takes to develop these sites.

In a more general sense, I work hard to submit patches back to any modules that I can improve upon as I use them. I also participate as much as I can in supporting other Drupal developers and users on IRC by supplying answers to some of the questions I've had to solve in the past. I hope to be an active contributor to Drupal 8 as much as possible, as well as mentoring other developers as they work towards becoming proficient at anything they do in Drupal.
