Ann: Quotes Module

I am happy to announce quotes.module a module that displays a block containing a random quote. Quotes can be added one at a time or mass-imported. They can also be edited and deleted as needed.

Installation is all web based (no .sql file) — I despise the sql-file install method. I am especially seeking feedback on this functionality.

Drupal.org upgraded

I just upgraded drupal.org from Drupal 4.2.0 to the CVS HEAD version of Drupal (development tree).

This makes it easy to evaluate and review some of the usability improvements we are working on. Take a look at the improved forum views, for example. (For those that want to get involved: usability issues are discussed and prototyped on the user mailing list.)

Also, thanks to the new URL aliasing functionality, we can now setup meaningful URLs. A few examples:

Drupal 4.2.0 released

Recognizing that while many Open Source projects are powerful but lack ease of use, the Drupal project today announced Drupal 4.2.0, a substantially enhanced and re-organized version of the Drupal open source content management platform with a specific focus on improving ease of use and administration. Beyond ease of use, Drupal 4.2.0 includes several significant new features.

Drupal vs. PHP-Nuke 6.0

PHP-Nuke 6 was presented as a "Master Class" tutorial in the July edition of a top South African magazine called ".net" (not related and pre-dates M$'s .net).

This Master Class tutorial guided its readers through the whole setup of PHP-Nuke with screenshots along the way, and quick hints for getting more from your installation. I am sure it would be possible to arrange a Master Class for Drupal as well, as they are open to suggestions of what to present in these Master Class tutorials.

new site

my new drupal powered site is up and running...

scriptfurnace.com

I managed to write a php script that converts a multiple author movable type installation over to drupal. If anyone is interested in the code I can post it when I get back to my house.

I also managed to get the 3 column design to validate xhtml transitional (when people don't post broken links)

drupal rocks!
