Friday, July 28, 2006
I. GENERAL: This is a request for proposal for design, Drupal 4.7/ CiviCRM module integration, and miscellaneous optimization services for the new 911 Media Arts Center website. The process has been divided into three phases: website planning and asset collection (Phase I); implementation, loading and testing of website (Phase II); and the design (i.e. look and feel of the site) and optimization of the final product (Phase III). In regards to optimization, this includes anything related to SEO, browser compatibility, and any final troubleshooting of site modules, and Drupal theming. To date, 911 in-house staff has already completed Phase I and Phase II of the project, in that this RFP is specific to the completion of Phase III.

II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: For over 20 years, 911 Media Arts Center has been the region’s premiere resource and venue for alternative media. Emerging from Seattle’s seminal artists’ space and/or gallery in 1984, 911’s mission of supporting independent digital media artists in the creation and exhibition of their work is now more essential than ever. To accomplish its mission, 911 Media Arts Center provides both education and training; affordable access to tools and facilities for media production; a connection to a supportive peer community of media makers; and direct support to individual digital media artists through residencies and exhibitions. Our vision is that by combining 911’s rich history of media excellence with the multifaceted technologies offered by using the Drupal architecture and other technologies, will develop a powerful tool that may be utilized by both 911 staff, local and international artists, and the general public alike. Phase III will essentially incorporate and tie-in everything we’ve already implemented and completed by finalizing the design, optimization and any troubleshooting in between.
