geeksandgod.com

My website for the Geeks and God podcast at http://www.geeksandgod.com/ is running drupal. We have both a podcast and a blog there.

Drupal Library Site (& why I love Drupal)

So, please add me to the long list of active Drupal boosters. I've been running our site on "the big D" since early this spring, and I have been amazed at how well conceived the system really is. The marriage of stub functions for CRUD along with the access control system and native taxonomy support have allowed me to really craft a system that works for our employees.

IndoSec - A personal Blog and Activist Site

IndoSec hosted at http://www.indosec.org is a personal project that started in March this year. The site is dedicated to promoting Information Security Awareness in India, not just the technical aspects, but issues related to Data Protection, Privacy, Fair Use, Internet Censorship etc.

The site is hosted at Bluehost (http://www.bluehost.com). Bluehost provides a Fantastico install for Drupal which is a breeze. There have been minor issues with upgrades but nothing major really.

I have tried to restrict myself to the core modules as I find the most common cause for concern during upgrades are contrib modules that make database changes ( somehow my experience with the new "automatic" database changes has not been so automatic) so I try to make do with core modules. That said, I use the Google Analytics, Google Sitemaps, Image, Poormanscron, and Capthca modules.

After experimenting with a couple of themes I have stuck to the basic bluemarine theme. Considering that I am one person working on this project and that I am no designer, I thought this is more than an overkill for my purposes.

My experience with Drupal has been great so for except for a few areas that I feel should be addressed. Ill probably post regarding this in a separate forum.

For now, I'd like the thank all the folks for a great job. When I started working on creating my site, I could never imagine that it would look anything different that a page on BlogSpot. Drupal's customizability, once you get a hang of it is simply superb. I experimented with a couple of other CMS'es ( Joomla in particular) and despite some very great differences and similarities and some advantages that Joomla has that could be desirable in Drupal, I find Drupal's design simple, most intuitive and hassle free.

Graphic design and prepress site from static to Drupal

After an experiment in a subsite with Drupal 4.6, I managed to migrate a static xhtml site to Drupal 4.7. It's a set of pages about graphic design and prepress techniques in Spanish.

What drove me to Drupal was that it suited perfectly my needs for a management of content: Clearness, good structuring of data, ease of retrieving them and navigating.

Not very beautiful, but I would like to think that is clear and easy to use.

Linux App Finder's new design using Drupal

I recently redesigned the Linux App Finder site using Drupal and I must say that I have been very impressed. Thanks to everyone who participates in the Drupal community. Many of the posts provided a great deal of help during the migration.

Drupal has done a good job

I wanted something that would make my site look more professional and I think Drupal has done a good job. This before drupal:

and this is after I used Drupal:

I think it looks a lot better so thanks Drupal developers!
