I'm not too familiar with The Dotties, an awards show for websites in Northern California, but a Drupal site I work on, Saving the Sierra, has been nominated for one. The people I work with on the site assure me it's a big deal, on a regional level.
GreenOptions.com, an online destination for 'green living', including a constantly-updated blog featuring some of the green blogosphere's best writers, a green living wiki with a wide range of practical information, a central news page for green stories from around the globe, discussion forums to share your own green practices and insights, and tools to help you make the jump to solar energy (and eventually other technologies) for your home or business.
The basic idea is for people with ideas to come together to splice and build on them together then to use Drupal tools to make them happen. The key thing is no one's in charge, no right or wrong ways of using the site...just giving people free reign to do whatever they want.
