Post installation

I need to create new node types in my site, is it safe to use the CCK module to do it, or is it better to wait untill it's finished?

I am trying to track information on this but everthing seems to be jumbled together or old. I will try and describe this as best as possible.

Building a menu:

Primary menu consists of front_page module front page

Taxonomy terms as menu items

Aliased nodes as menu items

Example:

Primary links -

node/1 aliased as here/page but has title "all about". Set with taxonomy term "here" to match here/page

term/1 aliased as /latest with title "latest". Set with taxonomy term "latest" to match /latest

ok - here is what i think i have lost - well i believe i have lost my brain because i didn't save it...

basically what i want people to be able to do is to click a box to be notified if someone replies to their comment - i know i saw this function on here a bit ago but didn't save it :(

its not the "notify" module - somehow i think it had something to do with captcha module perhaps...

When i create child nodes under a static page, links to these nodes are created when viewing the parent page. Lets say i have i static page named "father" and under it two child nodes named "brother" and "sister". When i view the "father" page there are two links two the child nodes with alphabetical order ("brother","sister"). Is it possible to change the order of appearence of these two links?

I activated user pictures but I am not seeing an upload section in the user edit area. Either as admin or logged in user. Upload settings are set as users can upload attachments and images but this specific thing does not show at all. Drupal 4.7.3

What am I missing?

Is there a tpl or some patch to taxonomy.module or the like that offers a form to update categories for multiple posts without moving the affected posts up in the activity listings? (Just like the content filter page does: applies changes to posts without them moving up on top of activity lists).

Any tips or relevant links are most welcome.
