Hello,
I am working with an NGO to redesign their website, and it has been bantied about that perhaps we consider using drupal. I have some basic experience with drupal from toying around with an older release at another ngo´s office from a few months ago, but realistically I am a new user.
Basically, if anybody has any advice on the following topics i would be quite grateful:
1. What is the reliability of drupal. Once the site is operational, is there an ongoing need for technical assistance to maintain the site? I ask as there will be no support as the organisation has no technical personnel and our technical department is a 14 hour flight away....
2. Should a server go down, what is a realistic timeframe to bring back a drupal website and who will need to do this? (ie. with the current version of the website, when they lost the site recently, they just took a cd-rom copy of the site they had and ftp´d it when the service was operational again). If anybody can provide some more light as to an ideal back-up process as well as a brief explanation with the recovery sequence i would be most pleased.
3. integration between a drupal and basic html site. There is interest on the organisations part to continue publishing their quarterly publication (which uses pdf files) in html as they like the control and security and ease of use. However, they would like to use drupal for news, agenda, forums. Is it possible to combine drupal with static html pages?
