embedding .avi and .wmv files

Hi,

I have created a content type that accepts .wmv and .avi media file uploads. I have uploaded some videos and am trying to get them to display in a block after creating a block view. What module is best used for playing these files on the page? I've tried the media module and jPlayer without any luck.

Ideally I'd like to display a block with links to the file being played.

Collation error, etc.

This is for a site that's not yet live. I made the mistake of installing Drupal via Fantastico. Didn't know I had a problem until today, when I installed CTools and Views. That went OK, but as soon as I constructed a simple View and tried to save it, everything broke, and I got the "illegal mix of collations" error, with specific reference to some stuff in the CTools module.

I did my research and got the basic idea, and thereafter went to phpMyAdmin and recollated every table and column that was utf8_unicode_ci to utf8_general_ci, but that didn't fix the problem. So I disabled and uninstalled CTools and Views (using Drush), and was going to reinstall. Tried clearing the cache first, and now I was getting a slightly different error: same illegal collation thing (weird, because I think everything is now utf8_general_ci), but with an error referenced in the shortcut module (I had added an item to the shortcut bar). So I also disabled shortcut module, and now when I try to clear the cache, I get yet another error:
