I am trying to create a theme from scratch. By that i mean i am copying and pasting bits from other themes. But i am not able to print the standard variables. I can print $logo, $site_name and $site_slogan. The other variables that i have in my page.tpl.php file are not printing. I have my regions declared in the .info file: head, left, right, content, footer. But these variables are not showing up in the page. Everything in my .info file, page.tpl.php and style.css file looks correct. But obviously i am missing something. Does anybody have a clue? Thank you in advance.

Hi, I think I'm in the right area. Only new too Drupal. Drupal is looking like its core along with gmap is going to meet my needs perfectly.

I do have a small bit of external data to integrate however and am not sure how to do it. It involves taking product information from SAP. Its basically information around my companys products. I would like to take all the product info (about 600 products) from SAP (or wherever really, fact is it's an external datasource to drupal) every 24 hours and somehow put it into the drupal system so it is viewable on the site just as if I went in and created it via the add article link in administrator. It need not be editable though as it will be refreshed every 24 hours so not point in editing in the drupal cms, but I want this information on the site.

Due to other commitments, I must have IIS running on my computer under Windows 7.

I am not sure if I should install Drupal under WIMP or WAMP.

I have heard there are some compatibility issues to try to having IIS and Apache running simultaneously on the same computer. Can anyone shed more light on the problem or advise me as to the best environment for doing development in Drupal (this will be a demo machine but not the production environment).

I'm just new, recommended Drupal to my company in a 3000 word proposal document for our new cms driven website. My ass is grass if Drupal doesn't work out for me, I'm liking what I see so far though.
