Experimental project
This is a sandbox project, which contains experimental code for developer use only.
Taxonomy Channels is a D6* module created to allow users quick access to a list of preferred taxonomy terms. Perhaps a better way to think of it is "favourite terms". It is best explained with a use case.
Let's say I have a site about vegetables, and each user wants to pick some vegetable types to "follow". They select these from a list, and the selected ones appear as a list in a configurable block for easy access.
The list of vegetable types is made up of links to taxonomy term listings via a vocabulary that is assigned to a content_profile node type. By editing their profile node, a user can thereby choose a list of their preferred vegetables.
Each link presents an ordinary taxonomy term listing page. Configurable vocabulary and content_profile node type settings are made available at /admin/settings/channels.
Additionally - there are settings available for each content_profile type - there is an optional "overview" setting to create a block of all terms for the configured vocabulary.
* I doubt this module will be useful in D7; as I understand it, it will be possible (when http://drupal.org/node/299722 is fixed) to flag terms. This module was originally built for a client project but is quite old now.
