Experimental project

This is a sandbox project, which contains experimental code for developer use only.

Purpose

Drupal.org development environments are only available on a remote server with a one-developer-at-a-time model. It takes time to set up and tear down environments, so I am maintaining and coordinating access to http://eliza411-drupal.redesign.devdrupal.org/ in order to expedite volunteer access.

How do I get set up?

You'll need access to devwww - https://drupal.org/node/1018084 has all the directions to get set up.

I'm set up! How do I start using this space

If you're all set up to access devwww, do the following:

Check the issue queue to see if anyone is currently working:
#2169889: Site Availability - Assign this issue to yourself while you're working

If the site is available

  1. Assign the issue to yourself while you are actively working on it. If feasible, be available in IRC - #drupal-infrastructure while working.
  2. Save your work off-site when you finish a work session - the site gets refreshed and no one will try to save your work for you. Creating a patch is your best bet - and posting a partial patch to whatever issue you're working on is recommended when appropriate.
  3. Unassign the issue when you're done ACTIVELY working. You can hop in again any time the site is free.

If the site is in use

Either:

  • Monitor the issue and wait
  • Contact the person developing ... sometimes it's possible to work side-by-side if you are focused on different areas of the site (depending on how intrusive your use of dpm()s is :)
  • Contact me via my contact form or in #drupal-infrastructure if you can't reach the person working or think that they forgot to assign themselves.
