A module to implement the concept of "Gated Content"

I've come across a common scenario in at least three different enterprise-level projects now where the stakeholders have expressed the desire to "gate content".

What does "gating content" mean, you ask?

Well... the idea is that the content authors of the website provide content that requires the acceptance of some sort of agreement or transaction before their site-visitors can access particular types of content.

Some of the types of content that have been controlled in this manner include (but aren't limited to) Files (Media+File Entity), Articles (Node+PDF generation) and such like.

I hope to create a suite of modules that will enable this concept in a clean and clear format that will ultimately integrate well with other modules like Views, Views Bulk Operations, etc.
