Some customers don't want a mobile/responsive layout so I think the stuff in html.tpl.php below the < !-- Mobile viewport optimization h5bp.com/ad --> should be optional. Or doesn't it have side effects on those mobile devices which respect it. Then I wonder why it's not inside html5boilerplate and just html5boilerplate mobile.

davidneedhamI agree. There's a ton of junk in html.tpl.php that isn't necessary if we're not building a site that is mobile-optimized. I'd imagine there being a checkbox in settings that, when checked, has additional features for the viewports, touch icons, etc.
