Liking main slide image to node

I'm trying to get the main image in the gallery to link to the node. Selecting "Link image to: content" in the views field options doesn't seem to work. I tried reading the issue about linking the main image to lightbox but I was only able to remove all click actions from the main image. Any help would be appreciated.
