Hello i am the author of Views Arguments Extras, which I think has this functionality as well. Would you mind seeing if it can meet your requirements? Maybe we can work together on this functionality.

simeHi e2thex
Oh cool, I did look all over for this feature.
Looking at your handler, my main concern is that you are doing a lot more in your handler than I need (although admittedly mine is only compatible with mysql at this point).
Can you look at my handler and consider this?

I'm also considering this module as an excellent working example of Views handlers, and might not create release of it for this reason. So maybe I can put a message in my project page to point to your project page.
Let me know what you think.

I was looking at views arguments extras as a store of views extensions around arguments would you be interested in co-maintaining?

simeI'm happy with the idea of merging in. My thoughts:
-- I'm concerned that having looked at PostgreSQL that it seems impossible to make my handler work without horrible hoops.
-- Conversely, I'm in favour of small projects that do one thing well, rather than "extras" projects.
-- But there is also the attraction of getting help on the "limitations" listed on my project page.
As for co-maintaining, I have burned myself in the past with taking on too much so I'd have to think about that. It does depend quite heavily on how well I manage to organize my life over the next few months!!
I'll have to think about it. For the moment I'm going to put a message on my project page about your project.

As for all of this being in an extras module, I agree with the premise of small projects that do one thing well are a good idea, but I was convinced on this one that the project of expanding thews arguments was small enough. But I understand the hesitation.
Will you be maintaining your module? If so I would like to link to it, saying here is on option if you just want to sort nodes or something like that.

simeIf I can improve my code to being ready for release, then I would be happy to maintain it, and if I was happy to maintain it we should merge it in and I will help with that part of your module.
I will think on it, no rush.
