Problem/Motivation

A clear need for a unified base recipe that delivers a complete, opinionated SEO foundation
aligned with Varbase standards and Drupal SEO best practices.

Proposed resolution

Introduce a new Varbase SEO Base recipe that centralizes all core SEO modules,
default configurations, and role-based permissions. This recipe will provide a ready-to-use,
scalable SEO setup for all Varbase sites.

Included Features

  • Meta Tag Management using Metatag with Open Graph, Twitter Cards, hreflang, mobile, and verification tags
  • Schema.org Structured Data for articles, web pages, web sites, and item lists
  • Yoast SEO integration for real-time content optimization
  • Pathauto for automatic, clean URL aliases
  • Redirect Management including 404 tracking, domain redirects, and alias normalization
  • XML Sitemap Generation via Simple Sitemap for nodes, taxonomy terms, and menu links
  • Script Manager for centralized analytics and tracking scripts
  • Entity Clone support to duplicate content while preserving SEO settings

Default Configuration

  • Metatag defaults for global pages, front page, nodes, taxonomy terms, users, and 403/404 pages
  • Optimized Pathauto patterns and alias normalization
  • Automatic redirects with 301 status codes
  • XML sitemap generation with cron support and multilingual awareness

Permissions

The recipe defines clear SEO responsibilities per role:

  • Editor: Use Yoast SEO for content optimization
  • Content Admin: Use Yoast SEO
  • SEO Admin: Full SEO management (meta tags, redirects, sitemaps, scripts)
  • Site Admin: Full SEO management and administration
