Latest version for this project is included in VideoWhisper Webcam Plugins project (recommended release).
2 Way Video Chat (by VideoWhisper) is a premium high definition video communication software designed for instant 1 on 1 online video conferencing. It's a solution for conducting easy to setup face to face meetings without leaving your office or home. It's the easiest and most cost-effective way to meet somebody and discuss one on one.
How does it work?
Site members (as allowed by role permissions) can instantly create custom 2 way video chat rooms and send the access links to the ones they want to chat with.
These rooms are created on Drupal as nodes.
With this Drupal integration, room settings, including quality and streaming time, permissions to use features (globally by role and locally by room) can be defined and used to control quality and duration of service. This virtually allows website owner to provide controlled premium services.
Module generates a room link that can be sent to the other person using any method (email/text messenger/sms). By using that link both parties get instantly face to face on big video panels. No downloads required. All is browser based and works on almost any platform (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux) in browsers that support flash. Also, parties can meet at any scheduled time.
After installation a new menu will be available for users: Video Chats. This will allow managing rooms created by that user and creating new rooms. Rooms can also be created with Create Content > 2 Way Video Chat room . Rooms are generated as Drupal nodes.
Room owners can define for each of their rooms multiple parameters, depending on permissions configured by Administrator. This includes streaming settings and permissions (access) to certain room features.
Administrators can configure permissions to use certain features for each role. This can be used only if enabled by room owner for that room.
Administrators can also control by permissions what parameters room owners can change. Defaults defined by administrators in module settings will be used for inaccessible parameters.
The advanced software integrated by this module requires 2 types of hosting: a regular web hosting plan for the regular website features and a RTMP plan (usually on a different special server) for video streaming and other instant communication required between chat clients. This will require a RTMP application to be installed on a Red5, Wowza or FMIS server. Also a RTMFP server is required for P2P support (a free address can be obtained from Adobe Cirrus). Please visit documentation page for detailed information and download of all required files.
These downloads are just for integration module.
