Do you plan to port this to Drupal 7? I am currently working on a system that sounds very similar to this however I have started it in D7. Perhaps we could collaborate? I will give your D6 system a try and see how it goes.

I wasn't planning a direct port ... mostly because there are some pretty large overlaps between this and LeagueSite.

Instead, I had much larger plans for a consolidation of multiple Drupal 6 league modules into a single Drupal 7 'League API' initiative - basically a merger of ULT, LeagueSite, and the Sports Club Management module. I'm calling it a fresh start, because there are a few architectural issues with ULT which make it difficult to integrate with other modules. And I'm DEFINATELY looking for collaborators to help with the initiative (both other sports module developers, and someone else to bounce ideas off of)!

I haven't got very far yet ... I'm still in the process of finalizing the data model, and wasn't going to dive into the coding until next month. In the meantime, I've documented some of my progress in the Sports Club League Management group on g.d.o ... would love to see what you've got, and any feedback you might have!

If you're on IRC, I'm around for another hour or so tonight, and would be happy to discuss further.

Has there been any progress on this?

As far as actual code goes, no. I've got it slated as a winter project, with my focus this summer and fall being a rewrite of Drupal's automated testing infrastructure.

For now, the 'tourney' project is architected very much the same as i had planned for the next version of ULT ... While it doesn't support the registration and other features that ULT does, it does do game results tracking in a way that should support a migration path (if not a direct migration).

More than anything else, my main goal with the 'One League module' initiative is to try and coordinate the various developers interested in this space so that we are minimizing the duplication of effort and thus not working on multiple competing projects. Sometime after DrupalCon Munich (and maybe as late as October), i hope to get around to setting up a central site to help organize the various developers, architects, and feature requests so that we can help ensure that we are building towards a single master solution, rather than building multiple solutions which don't integrate well with each other, each supporting only a subset of the overall desired feature list.

Sounds like a plan.

Good luck.

Are there any news on this "One League module" thing..?

Not from a code perspective, unfortunately ... Still intended, but have been busy with the Drupal.org automated testing support, porting, and other higher priorities.

In the meantime, I've been pointing people at the "Tourney" module, which can handle the games and scheduling piece, and looks to be in alignment from an architecture perspective.

Any update on this being ported to Drupal 7?

jthorson’s picture

Not currently ... a D7 (or D8?) port of ULT is currently below 'new drupal.org testing infrastructure' on my priority list, so it's likely 4-6 months off (at least!).

Hi,

I'm new to Drupal and looking for a league management tool for our local youth leagues and was wondering if you had any recommendations. Thanks for your help!
