Perhaps I am missing something, but as soon as I start using UD to theme the user profile page (core) the "related content" section dissapears. Reverting the changes (not rendering any fields through UD) brings it back.

swentel commentedWhat do you mean with related content ? is that a block ? or something that is printed on the default user profile page ?
castawaybcn commentedSorry about the description being a little vague. By related content I mean the nodes in which the user is referenced with cck's user reference, which does get printed in core's user profile but do not show up at all while using UD. After seeing #669232: Support for user reference I thought that UD was compatible with user reference, but either I am doing something wrong or I must have misunderstood.
Thanks for looking into this. Do let me know if I can provide any other information.

xtfer commentedAs this is a feature request Im marking it closed, unless someone submits a patch.
Also, assuming the render information is available on the profile object, you should be able to create a new Preprocess field through Display Suite > User Displays > Fields, and pull out the key which contains the HTML.
