The Node Translation Connector module enhances Drupal's content translation capabilities by enabling nodes to be translated for another node. This allows for the creation of translation relationships between content, ensuring consistent and interconnected translations across different languages.
This module is not designed to override or modify core translation functionality. It is solely intended for the content that has already been created on the website as individual content, possibly due to migration or accidental creation. Editors will be able to link nodes together instead of having to recreate the translations and redirects.
Usage
After installing the module, a new local task named "Translations connector" will appear in the node router. This local task provides easy access to the module's translation functionality.
Form for Untranslated Languages
The "Translations connector" local task presents a simple form where users can specify the target language and source Node ID (nid). This form simplifies the process of creating translation relationships.
Validation and Translation Creation
Upon form submission, the module's validation mechanism checks whether the chosen node is in the specified language and has not been translated yet. If the validation passes, the module creates a translation of the node and establishes the translation relationship.
Redirects and Path Alias Update
Upon successful translation creation, the module updates redirects to the new translation and modifies the path alias accordingly. This ensures that the translation is accessible and properly linked.
Features
- Establish translation relationships between nodes.
- Create translation links to associate one node as a translation of another.
- Streamline content management when maintaining content in multiple languages.
Usage Examples
Scenario 1: News Article Translation
In a multilingual news website, use the module to link translations of a news article to the original article. This maintains consistency across languages while allowing localized content.
