I have run into too many problems on sites that rely on the default view mode to manage the full page display. Let's get out ahead of it.

Proposed resolution

Let's make sure we ship config such that each content type uses custom display settings for the Full view mode

It turns out this is natural to handle as part of adding the new Media reference field. Closing this in order to handle it as part of #3248737: Change field_image to a Media reference field.
