Track node creation as well as view?

TinCanAPI tracks views, NOT creation. But some of us (like me) create nodes from extensions with JSON, so the created node is not automatically viewed. Currently there is no tracking option for creation.

We COULD create an RSS feed for created nodes, but even that would be a view mode - if nobody viewed the RSS, no trigger. I suppose I could do a JS redirect on submit to an RSS feed that showed only the most recently created node ...

If it were possible to trigger node creation, though, that would be really wonderful.
