Problem/Motivation

The SEO role has one permission that has its menu item in the configuration menu: Administration of default Metatag configuration. That leads currently to a situation where all other high level menu items in the configuration menu show up even though they lead to dead ends (pages giving the message that there are no configuration options)

Proposed resolution

Remove the useless menu items from the menu.

Remaining tasks

  1. Research if there's already a core issue for that.
  2. If not create one and a patch

This should be the core issue: https://www.drupal.org/node/296693 Unfortunately there's no patch for that as it seems.
But there is a own small module which apparently fixes the problem: https://www.drupal.org/node/296693#comment-11377967

Thanks for the tip alex0412, I just added admin_links_access_filter to our project and I am sure the editors would have been thankful for it, had they known what difference that module made. The original core issue is from 2008, maybe it will be fixed on it's 10 year anniversary?
