I have exactly this problem with a newssite. Since we have 20000 stories to search, a hierarchical taxonomy view kills the access time with a depth larger than zero (and I need a depth of 3).

Is this module alive at all? Is it a Drupal5 or a Drupal6 module? Or is it that cvs commit #104527 is D5, and cvs commit #115415 is D6? The world clamors for an answer! ;)
