Currently there is a 'Site under maintenance' page displayed on the 'admin/reports/system_status' path that is used to fetch the module list when maintenance_mode has been enabled.
If someone is able to test this i will commit it.

pjbarry21 commentedI put this patch in a few hours ago on a site we have in maintenance mode. So far, no change in the drupalstatus.org page. Still shows 503 and gives me the configure button.

sam hermans commentedHi,
Could you give me your site id so i can check this manually?
You should be able to find it in the configure url: https://www.drupalstatus.org/user/configure/site/
Thanks,
Sam

jerry commentedThe proposed patch doesn't seem to be working for me, either. I tried removing and re-adding a site in maintenance mode which had the patch applied, and it still showed up with the 503 status in the list.

pdesai commentedEdit: Patch worked - had to wait a little longer for it to "sync" with the service.
