When adding overrides to a site which is in another language than English, you will have to enter the English original string. The administrator therefore first has to look it up in admin/config/regional/translate/translate or a .po file if the original string is not easily guessable.

If String Overrides were to allow entering string translations as original, the workflow for administrators in questions would be slightly improved.

Another way to do it is to display the text in english. This may be achieved by enabling path prefix language detection (admin/config/regional/language/configure) and visiting en/your_page , the english translation of your_page .
