I just started using spatial as my intention was to use it in feeds to parse shp files.
But seems the functionality is not available in D7.
I've seen for there d6 there is a module spatial_import, would that be complicated to make it work in D7 (i don't have any experience in module development so far), or what is the problem why it isn't included in D7 anymore?
Best wishes!
Daniel

held69 CreditAttribution: held69 commentedJust as mentioned in this issue i am also looking for a way to parse shape files into D7 as well.
Despite the port, any updates on this?

AgentJay CreditAttribution: AgentJay commentedI have installed the Spatial Tools module, and I am using feeds to import a sample shape file, but it never works. The features are all 'null'.
Does anyone have this module working in Drupal 7?

AgentJay CreditAttribution: AgentJay commentedI have found my issue. Obviously it was a lack of understanding geospatial data. You must define the geometry column of your shape file. It is usually called 'Shape' but, for various reasons the module uses '_geometry_' as the placeholder in the feeds settings for Vector geodata parser.
To break it down in more detail:
You have 3 fields in the settings for Vector geodata parser
1. 'Name for the geometry field' where the default is '_geometry_'
2. 'Name for the FeatureID field' where the default is '_fid_'
3. 'Projection (EPSG code)' where the default is '4326'
To work with shape files you must change them like so:
1. change to 'Shape'
2. change to 'FID'
3. change to the projection of your shape file (I just left it as is)
This should get your imports working.

guillaumev CreditAttribution: guillaumev commentedHi,
For anyone interested, I've tried to revive the "Spatial Import" module for D7 here: https://github.com/humanitarianresponse/spatial_import
I've focused only on feeds integration, which is working on my side. I'm obviously more than willing to take the module out of github and add it to this project.

AgentJay CreditAttribution: AgentJay commentedSounds Awesome. I'm interested for sure.
I'll check out what you have on github right away.
Thanks.
