Spamicide not working for Simplenews

I am using the Simplenews module for Newsletters. https://drupal.org/project/simplenews
This module creates a block for my front page where visitors can enter their e-mail address, click submit
which then subscribed them to my newsletter

I've been getting a flood of spam subscrptions, so I installed the Spamicide module.

After installing the Spamicide module, I checked all permissions for anonymous user, authenticated user, administrator.
and when I access the spamicide configuration page, /admin/config/spamicide
it shows that my simplnews block and node is indeed protected by spamicide
(simplenews_block_form_2, comment_node_simplenews_form)

Is there something else I can try to get this to work correctly?

Is the development release stable enough to try? I'm currently using the Beta Recommended Release

Thanks

Yes, please try the dev version. I've added the ability to rename the field and the directory to further reduce the likelyhood that the bots will learn from the current signature. If spamicide's field name is not seen by the bots it will be harder for them to figure out that spamicide is present. So once you've got a few bot submisions. you'll be able to change them so maybe the bots will have to re-learn you're new fieldnames/directory names. Remember, it will not prevent humans from spamming you at this time.

BTW. it's NOT a good idea to give anonymous users that permission, uncheck that ASAP.
