gvsoBy hootsuite, you mean this? What would be the advantage of using it? Use cases? Can you provide a more comprehensive background, please? I'd be happy to share my thoughts after that

grimreaperHello gvso,
Yes, by Hootsuite I mean https://hootsuite.com.
On a dev perspective, the advantage of using it, is that it handles the API of the social networks and so we only have to handle Hootsuite API.
On a marketing aspect, I am not a social/marketing manager, so I can't tell exact use cases, but I have echos that in companies it is used to avoid having the entire marketing/communication team to access all the networks and they only access Hootsuite.

dahacouk commentedHi Grimreaper,
This is an interesting question. I always thought of the Social API having direct connections with the external social networks via their APIs. In a sense we should be able to make a Hootsuite-like service from Social API components.
That said I see no reason why we shouldn't integrate with external services too (like Hootsuite) and if the Social API can help with that then all the better. But I feel we shouldn't rely on a third party service (like Hootsuite) to be the interface for social networks. I feel we should maintain direct API connections with those primary social services.
Hope that makes sense. Yes?
Cheers Daniel

gvsoI like the idea of a Drupal distribution which can help to create something like Hootsuite. Yet I don't think hootsuite is what we need for the implementers themselves. You need to provide so many permissions which are not needed for the current functionality of the Social API and its implementer. Plus, most of the things you can do with Hootsuite are not needed for auth or autoposting.

grimreaperHello,
Thanks for your replies.
I think we are gonna make a separated module.

grimreaperHi,
@rbennion, sorry but no, I have been assigned to other subjects and it is not planned.
