we have several nodes being translated that contain image fields. the image fields are set to be excluded from translation, but instead of it doing what we expect... it just deletes the image from the image field.

any thoughts?

I've tried next case:
1. Create a content type with a text and image fields.
2. Set it up for translation with Smartling.
3. Create a node with an image inside.
4. Send it for translation.
5. Exclude image field from translation at /admin/config/regional/smartling#smartling-nodes-settings.
6. Download translation.

I've tried these steps for both "Nodes method" and "Fields method" methods of translation and couldn't reproduce the behavior you've reported. The image inside the node hasn't been deleted.

Could you please provide steps to reproduce the issue?

By the way, 7.x-2.95 is pretty old release. We recommend you to use the latest releases from 7.x-3.x branch and from 7.x-4.x branch if you want integration with Smartling Jobs.
