gbyteI cannot reproduce this. Please install the dev version of the module and explain step-by-step how to reproduce the issue. Please also mention what a broken sitemap looks like.

Red2015 commentedHi there,
Sorry not sure why I put break there, it seems to just display empty as an empty sitemap. It has re-occurred now but without adding a new node so is not caused by this.
By that do you mean install 8.x-2.x-dev (from the module page)? Am fairly new to this so please excuse the question. Thanks

Q2U commentedHello all. d8.1.1 and Simple XML Sitemap 8.x-2.2 here.
I also have the "Sitemap sometimes disappearing" issue ocurring, but I cannot tell you how to reproduce the issue except to say that the issue appears to occur only when "Regenerate the sitemap on every cron run" is enabled (checked). This setting is located at: /admin/config/search/simplesitemap.
When "Regenerate the sitemap on every cron run" is enabled the contents of my sitemap.xml file becomes empty every 24 to 48 hours, and appears as shown in the code tags below...
...and is reported by Google as being "empty" as shown below...
http://www.stonetonwestllc.com/sites/default/files/google-sitemap-error.jpg
However, when I disable (uncheck) "Regenerate the sitemap on every cron run" the issue is no longer present and my sitemap.xml files lives a healthy life. For example my d8.1.1 Status Report states that "The XML sitemap was generated 6 days 7 hours ago."
I apologize for not being able to provide reproduction steps other than the information I've provided above.
Thanks for your help.

Q2U commentedNot "critical" because one can run in "manual mode" as a work around.

gbyteThis should be fixed in the latest dev. Please do tell if you catch the sitemap in an empty state again.

niklp commentedIf this is fixed, and it is pretty major, shouldn't there be a new release tagged with this in?

gbyteWhat do you mean? This is fixed since 2.3. The most recent version is 2.8.
