Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
The child issues of #2044421: [meta] Upgrade to Drupal 8 already contain numerous possible improvements we might want to introduce in Drupal 8 to make the Search API an even more flexible framework. If you have any other ideas for such improvements, either create a new issue and make #2044421: [meta] Upgrade to Drupal 8 its parent, or just post it here and we'll see whether it warrants its own issue.

jantoine CreditAttribution: jantoine commentedI'm wondering if this issue is worth revisiting for the 8.x branch: #1900188: Use Solarium .

drunken monkeyThanks for your input!
This is specific to the Solr module, though, and the issue is more meant for the Search API module in general. However, as long as it doesn't get out of control we can probably also just collect suggestions for other Search API modules in here.
In any case, #1351752: Explore the benefits / drawbacks of integrating with the Solarium library is still open, so maybe you want to just bump that? (The two Solr modules will be merged for 8.x.) Personally I don't really see the benefit, but I also haven't really looked at Solarium. Maybe it is that much better to warrant the additional effort.
