See this change record for details. It seems to me, except from PSR-0 and other unrelated changes, the actual code updates needed are quite small. Let's hope that's really the case …

This was fixed a long time ago in our sandbox.
If you want to help with the port, please find unassigned issues in that module's issue queue and maybe attend our next planning meeting next Tuesday.
The sandbox, however, will hopefully soon move back to this repository (see #2231001: [meta] Search API 8.x path to its home repository) at which point we'll also update all the issues.
