View used to select the nodes is set to show just 8 items - field displays all values in radio select list field

Similar thing here with D7.9, Views 7.x-3.0 and references 7.x-2.0-beta3.
I created a simple view with a "Refences" display type. The view is set up to show only a limited number of results. Using that view in the field definition ("Views - Users that can be referenced > View used to select the users") results in showing all the results.
