There are a few issues oustide of this module code that I'd like to see commited as otherwise people may start opening cases here and complain why realname module does not work properly, but the module is just a victim.

The module works properly, but Drupal CORE does not work properly.

Just a comment that I am interested in this module but will not be able to use it until it is covered by the security advisory policy. I am relatively new to Drupal and not familiar enough with code standards to contribute to code, but can help with documentation.
