It seems that Drupal wipes off unsupported projects. What is this puzzling policy?

However, in the case of Quickstart this is not quite so important because the project page still links to the relevant Open Virtualization Format (OVA) files that you need to download to run in VirtualBox. Each OVA file is a Linux system image that already contains the LAMP stack and all the required Drupal modules, themes etc ready to run. Your bigger problem is that without anyone providing even a modicum of support the chances are high that you will encounter problems you cannot easily resolve. Much better to choose a similar project like DrupalPro or Drupal VM (Virtual Machine) or Vagrant Drupal Development (VDD) that may suit equally well and hopefully are more active. Personally, I have ceased to use virtualization and do everything natively in Ubuntu 14.04, but your needs may differ.
