So what's up with this project? There haven't been any updates to it in a while, and it's still in the early stages of development with quite a few large bugs. That said, it has a lot of promise and I really like its architecture and would like to contribute patches. Has it been abandoned or what?

Development is active on it and it's starting to mature quite a bit. Should be a full release very early in the new year!

I have contacted the maintainer, and there has been no activity since the initial commit a year or more ago. A full-featured replacement exists here: http://drupal.org/project/time_tracker
The project page should be updated to mark the project as abandoned, and link to Time Tracker as a better alternative project.
