What is this theme and why is it here?

This theme will be the official back-port of the theme-related work done in the Drupal 8 HTML5 initiative. We want everyone to be able to preview what's coming in Drupal 8 from a markup and CSS perspective. We want anyone to be able to easily review our progress without needing to create another install of an unstable, or unfamiliar version of Drupal.

How it is being developed?

For each theme-layer related change committed to Drupal 8, we'll attempt to implement a Drupal 7 version of that change, here in this theme. We'll track template files, theme functions and CSS files and anything else that is worthwhile and easy to implement in a theme. This won't be possible in every case, but we'll try our best.

Should I use this theme?

No. The purpose of this theme is for you to preview and track the progress of the HTML5 initiative. Over the next couple of years, this theme will be a constantly moving target and there will never be an official release, and it will not be supported like typical themes.

While you shouldn't use this theme for any serious project, you may want reference it. There will be lots of HTML5 and CSS improvements, that you might be interested in, and unless you are a certified theming ninja, you'll probably learn from it.

Setting up a Drupal site involves many steps. This is some of the steps I usually go through when setting up a Drupal site with Acta Theme:

Install Drupal 7.x

It is a simple html5 based theme with a clean and neat user interface. This theme is responsive and is grid based.

This theme will allow you to quickly develop a single page website. The theme by default comes along with demo content which will help the theme developers to better understand the structure of the theme. The demo content can be disabled from the theme configuration.

Features

This theme was originally conceived of as a place for a few dozen Drupal front-end developers to work together to figure out how best to get Drupal 7 to do HTML5. We had lots of debates and conversations, and wrote (re-wrote and re-wrote) its code. Several months into the process we decided to use HTML5 Base as a testing-ground to try out ideas for Drupal 8 core — a place get ideas running on real-world websites, and to use as a proof-of-concept for convincing others in the Drupal core community.

"OM" (AUM) - the source of everything. If you're looking for a simple, lightweight and with only the bare functionalities needed for your complex designs, OM base theme is for you. It's a professional base theme for a professional themer.

OM Base Theme helps reduce your custom theming work, making it easier and less time needed to develop a highly customized theme, unlike other base themes (with so many files and theme settings which can only be a huge baggage to carry later on), OM Base Theme has optimized codes to a minimum. As a result, you can easily migrate any existing web design templates to drupal since there's not much css overriding on a very simple base theme.

• No complex css overriding, its core CSS is reduced to minimum.
• Simplifies page.tpl.php structure, variables are grouped by default (a form of abstraction for common layouts), which made the layout more obvious. With this, it's easier to see how to make the wrapper and region divs and other elements in the layout.
• And with its version 2, you can automate this process by using OM Subthemer.
• Optional 12-column, 16-column and 24-column grid guides using 960 Grid System standards.

This is base html5 theme that supports content first design and semantic markup. It is a sandbox, it will probably always be a sandbox.

This is the theme that I use on my personal sites. On my client sites I normally stick with a zen subtheme.

Editorial is a responsive theme templated by HTML5 UP. This theme is used for DrupalBook.org site.

The intent is to create a rock solid parent theme with all of the startup critical thinking being done for you and working perfectly out of the box. It's pretty much coated entirely in awesome sauce (or will be, one day).
